Stop The Procrastination

Well hello!  It’s nice to “meet you” 🙂

So, as we develop our relationship here, you’ll get to know me a lot better but for now you’re just going to have to believe everything I say 😉  Here it goes!!

I’ve always been a talker but never a big writer so I procrastinated for days over what I would say in this blog post.  Thoughts were going through my head like:

  • What should I write about?
  • What if it’s not the perfect blog post?
  • What’s the most important thing that people want to know?
  • What if I don’t make a great first impression?

Some of you might think this was quite ridiculous.  But some of you are totally reading this and saying “YES!  That’s ME!”.  Am I right???

Those of you that might think this is ridiculous might be the people that think thoughts like:

  • So what if it’s not perfect?
  • I could never figure out what the most important thing is that people want to know but I can always ask them later.
  • It’s a blog post, not the end of the world.  No one will judge me from a blog post anyway.

Well, I’ve got good news for those of you that said “YES!  That’s ME!”.  Can you guess the difference between you and the other person who thought I was being ridiculous?

(Insert game show timer sound here..tick..tock…)

And the answer is…IT’S THEIR THOUGHTS!  It’s simply the way they are thinking about it.  Nothing more, nothing less.

SAY WHAT?!?!  Ahhh, what a relief to know, RIGHT?!?!  It’s not that we are the people who put the “PRO” in procrastination, or the perfectionists that we think we are.

It’s simply the way we are thinking about a situation.

When we think a thought, it creates a feeling inside and we then determine our course of action (or inaction in my case).  That course of action or inaction produces our result (blog post or no blog post).  Get it?  So when I was thinking about this post and worrying what I would write about and how people perceived it – I felt all wishy washy and did nothing. That resulted in no blog post.  When I thought about the blog post in a different light, I felt lighter and more confident which resulted in my writing it and you now reading it which means I’ll be writing more!!  OMG I feel so good now!

PHEW!  What a relief to know it’s only a thought!!  See how easy this is?

How would you feel if you thought differently in a certain situation?  Please tell me in the comments.

If you would like to talk about this and get some more insight into your thoughts, schedule a mini-session with me (it’s free!)

    Great, love it!
So relieving to know that it’s just because of my thoughts!
    Thank you!
